From the beginning, From This Island was built on a simple belief: our work should honour the environments and communities that shape us.
We are deeply inspired by the richness of Indonesian islands, and our impact work seeks to protect these landscapes, uplift the people, and contribute to regeneration.

Our Impact Pillars

  • FOR THE FOREST: STEWARDING BOTANICAL ECOSYSTEMS

    Indonesian native botanicals, including our hero ingredients Illipe and Papua Red Fruit, exist within ecosystems that rely on balance and biodiversity. We support conservation and reforestation efforts across Kalimantan, Papua, and Sumatra, and explore pathways toward circular sourcing models.

  • FOR THE PEOPLE: EMPOWERING FARMER & LOCAL COMMUNITIES

    Behind every plant powering us are communities who cultivate, harvest, and pass down knowledge through generations. We work to strengthen local livelihoods through collaboration, inclusive participation, and capacity-building programs.

  • FOR THE FUTURE: ADVANCING SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION

    Sustainability is a long-term project, and education is one of the most powerful tools we have. We support programs that provide children with access to books, environmental knowledge, and opportunities to understand the world they’re inheriting.

HOW WE GIVE BACK

1% of sales from our impact products are donated to support our initiatives. 

Our selected impact products feature ingredients that are endemic to Indonesian islands or our patented innovations, including Illipe and Papua Red Fruit, reflecting both deep ecosystem roots and scientific advancement.

Contributions from these products support conservation and reforestation efforts, local community programs, and access to educational resources for children and youth in underserved areas.

Our Ongoing Efforts

  • Replanted 460 trees including 100 Illipe or Tengkawang seeds in West Kalimantan with Bumiterra
  • Supported sustainable Illipe sourcing from local community harvesters in Kalimantan with Forestwise
  • Provided books to 10 libraries, reaching 500+ children in Papua with Wahana Visi Indonesia
  • Contributed to emergency disaster relief efforts following the North Sumatra flood with Wahana Visi Indonesia
