Where Our Skincare Gets Its Color (Hint: It’s from Nature)

If you’ve ever opened one of our products and noticed a soft green hue, a yellow tint, or a hint of purple, you might have wondered — is that natural?

The short answer is: yes.

All our facial skincare products are free from synthetic dyes — with one thoughtful exception. Our Mangosteen Brightening Serum includes a small amount of added pigment to help maintain its natural purple hue, which would otherwise fade quickly over time. And of course, our Illipe Plumping Lip Butter uses added pigment to give it that beautiful tint and shade range. It is, after all, a lip color too.

Aside from these two, the colors you see in our cleansers, serums, moisturizers, and treatments come straight from the ingredients themselves. These are plant extracts, cold-pressed oils, and antioxidant-rich botanicals that naturally carry color as part of who they are.

Nature Is Colorful. So Is The Skincare Made With It.

These hues aren’t just for show. They’re part of what makes these ingredients powerful. Often, the same compounds that give plants their color also provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, or nourishing benefits to your skin.

Here’s a closer look at the colors in your From This Island routine and where they come from:

We believe transparency should go beyond just the ingredient list which is why you’ll find the source of each product’s natural color printed on our packaging. Because every shade tells a story, and every plant has a purpose.

Natural Doesn’t Always Mean Neutral

It’s understandable — many of us were taught that good skincare should be white, scentless, and colourless to be “clean.” But natural beauty isn’t always white. In fact, some of the best things for your skin are rich in colour, texture, and scent because they’re made with whole, active plants.

So if you see a slight tint in your cleanser, or your moisturiser is a bit more peach than pale, take it as a quiet sign: the ingredients inside are doing its job.
